The University of Minnesota is located in the heart of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area, known as the “Twin Cities.” The Minneapolis campus sits on top of a bluff overlooking both the scenic Mississippi River and the skyscrapers of the downtown core of the city. Another portion of the University is located nearby in St. Paul amid rolling green hills. University shuttle buses connect these two campuses.
At the University of Minnesota—often called "the U" by students and locals—you will find unlimited academic, entertainment, professional, and cultural opportunities. One of the quickest ways student feel that they are a part of the University is by getting involved with co-curricular activities and meeting other students with similar interests. There are more than 600 cultural, educational, and co-curricular student organizations for students to choose join.
In addition, the Twin Cities area is the cultural center of the region, ranking second after New York City in per capita attendance at theater and arts events. Just minutes away from campus are world-renowned theaters, concert halls, and museums providing for an incredible cultural richness. Whether you on-campus or off-campus, there is always an exciting event going on!
